Using Maya Animation Layers or Studio Library

Hi,
These are just some queries to make workflow faster:
1. I wanted to know if there's a workflow to use Maya's animation layers to record different takes.
2. If we delete the Recorded keys from bone meshes and Resimulate, it still recreates animation from previously recorded. Can these internal hidden animation keys be replaced with animation keys from a different take? That might make it easier to save animations in something like Studio Library and resim whatever take we want?
